In May 2006, MGRMC opened our new Cancer Center. This new structure indicates a shift in the concept of patient comfort. It is decorated throughout with desert hues, soothing fountains and beautiful views of Mt. Graham that can be viewed by our patients as they receive treatment. Our firm belief at the Cancer Center is that patient comfort be a top priority.
In this facility we provide chemotherapy treatments, outpatient infusions, education, and a resource center providing patients with what to expect when cancer treatment begins. This resource center is provided through a partnership with the American Cancer Society. This Resource Center provides patients with information on the different types of cancer and helps them to understand what to expect with the type of cancer they have been diagnosed with. They also provide computers with internet access to www.cancer.org and telephones to call the American Cancer Society's 800-ACS-2345 number for more information about cancer, programs, assistance and referrals.
The American Cancer Society also provides programs which include the Look Good...Feel Better® program. In this program, trained volunteer cosmetologists teach women how to cope with skin changes and hair loss using cosmetics and skin care products donated by the cosmetic industry.
We are so proud of the contributions our Cancer Center and the ACS Resource Center have made to our patients. We are also proud of the fact that this facility would not exist without the kind and generous donations of many throughout our community.
