Welcome to the Gila Valley

The Gila Valley is a rural community in Southeastern Arizona primarily comprised of four municipalities; the City of Safford, the Town of Thatcher, the Town of Pima and the Town of Fort Thomas. Farming and mining provide the primary economic bases for the valley.

For those looking for enjoyable outdoor activities, the Gila Valley serves as a nice base for exploring Mt. Graham in the Pinaleno Mountain range southwest of town. Mt. Graham is the third highest mountain in Arizona with a peak reaching 10,720 feet and is also home to the Mt. Graham International Observatory. The Pinaleno mountain range is one of four of the Coronado National Forest's "sky islands" and has plenty of camping, hiking and some trout fishing. The mild weather of the Gila Valley provides for year-round golf and tennis or any other outdoor recreation you might enjoy. Take a look at the links provided below to learn more about this beautiful valley we call home.
